That's just a few percentage points below the U.S. In China, it represents nearly 50% of all passengers vehicles sold annually. Not sure why some people think it's limited to Americans. Increasing adoption of SUVs is a global trend. I think the 3 and Y at least need another 10k gap for 3 to sell as much as the Y. If Y and 3 is the same price, no one would buy the 3. ![]() Model Y is a sightly bigger car though compare to the Model 3. The seating position is more upright and less kneeling getting in / out. I don't think I can go back to sedan anymore. Now I am a family man for a while - I had a choice go SUV or mini-van. I have been sports sedan guy most of my life. And that's how you get CRVs in the same price bracket as a Model 3. And then when they've got ppl in an SUV they start eliminating lower trims saying no one wants lower trims. The media is happy to just regurgitate the automakers talking points verbatim without any analysis.Ĭartfan123 wrote: ↑ Because this whole narrative that everyone wants to drive SUVs is one that has been carefully crafted by legacy automakers. And right now if you had 1000 Kia Rio suddenly available in Canada they would sell out in the week. The legacy makers also pushing "no one wants small cars" yet none of them has had one available on the dealer lots for years. Model 3 vs Y? Model 3 has Lower center of gravity hence better handling. Is it the price? Driving Dynamics? Because this whole narrative that everyone wants to drive SUVs is one that has been carefully crafted by legacy automakers. Honest Q: Why people are buying M3 right now? Isn't 70-90% of new sales are SUV of some sort? I would think model Y be the one everyone eye-ing? Model3 should be mostly sitting on lots. I am sure they have something up their sleeve for a dramatic upgrade of battery (Other than making one with much less rare minerals). 2025, its just time to update the shapeįun Fact: Tesla actually have 2-3 different type of active batteries in their car running right now. ![]() There is an actual proper competition, so Tesla bring in an upgrade (newer, better more mileage battery). 2024 - 2026 (when allocated budget run out) Note: All gov't seems to do what each other is doing all around the world, so most of this is usually synchronized. Current rebate from gov't ends, and then Tesla will increase price. There are 3 scenarios (or combo of them) I can see taking place: Tesla has already upgraded Model Y with hw4 hardware so, the changes are expected to be mainly cosmetic. There are rumors to be for 2024 but highly unlikely IMO - Tesla is always delayed for one.
